Gmail
As part of the ArtSites service, we create an email address using your "official" domain name. We then forward any messages sent to that email address to an email address of your choice, usually the one that you signed up with. However, if you want to reply using your "official" email address, you will need to make a few changes to your email setup and preferences. Here are the instructions on how to create this new email address, using Google's Gmail service.
Before starting, please contact us to provide you with a username and password associated with the ArtSites-provided email address that you want to use.
- Click the gear icon in the upper right, select 'Settings', then 'See all settings'.
- Select the Accounts and Import tab.
- Under 'Send mail as,' click 'Add another email address.'
- In the 'Email address' field, enter your name and your "official" email address.
- Uncheck the box next to 'Treat as an alias.'
- Click Next Step >>
- In 'SMTP Server' field enter: email-smtp.us-east-1.amazonaws.com
- In 'Username' copy the username provided by us
- In 'Password' copy the password provide by us
- The 'Port' field should be 587 and 'Secured connection using TLS' should be already set.
- Click Add Account
- Gmail will send a verification message to your "official" email address to confirm that you own it. (This should show up in your Gmail inbox since we're assuming that's where it's being forwarded.)
- Either click the link in the message Gmail sent OR enter the confirmation code in the Accounts section of your Gmail settings.
- If Gmail sends a verification email and you didn't receive the it, the message may be in your Sent Mail folder or caught by a spam or bulk mail filter in your recovery email system. Try checking your Sent Mail or Spam or Bulk Mail folders for a message from account-verification-noreply@google.com to see if the email ended up in there.
- Once you have completed the above, verify your new email setup by clicking the gear icon again in the upper right
- Select 'Settings' and then 'See all settings'.
- Select the Accounts and Import tab.
- Under 'Send mail as', you should see your new email address(es) listed.
- In the 'When replying to a message' section, click 'Reply from the same address the message was sent to'. This ensures that if someone sends an email to your new "official" email address, you'll automatically reply with the appropriate email address.
- Feel free to send us a test email to support@ArtSites.ca to ensure everything works as you wish.
