I have a painting in this plein air exhibition!
Tower Point Morning is a soft pastel on pastelmat work, 12x16" image, (17x21" framed).
Bright sunlight is reflected on the grasses of an islet near Tower Point, contrasting with the deep shadows and the blues of the ocean.

One of my fairly rare plein air paintings will be in this non-juried exhibition.
It was selected by Path Developments as one of three paintings from the show that will be used on their advertising billboard in Royal Bay, Colwood.

The photo exhibit is being displayed in the Conference Room during normal business hours at the North Bend Library in the City Center of North Bend, Oregon, a small coastal town just barely north of Coos Bay. I titled it "Nature as Art" because some of my images depict the animal world in an artful way, at least the way I see it. Calling all Rural and Northern Manitoba artists to apply for this wonderful opportunity! MAWA's Rural and Northern One-on-One Mentorships (often abbreviated as ROOOs), pair women and gender-diverse artists living in rural or Northern Manitoba with artist-mentors to help them realize and further their goals as visual artists. These mentorships last 6 months and allow for 6 hours of one-on-one guidance between artist and mentor, which can occur in-person, over zoom, by telephone or email.

In the past when MAWA ran their ROOOs they followed the exact same model as their standard One-on-One mentorships; artists would select their own mentors and apply as a duo. This year, MAWA is changing the application process to make applying more accessible for artists who might not have a mentor in their community or network that fits their goals. Applicants are no longer required to apply with their own mentors already chosen, but will be paired with strong professional artist-mentors based on common artistic practices, and using MAWA's mentorship expertise.

The fabric of the world, once thought to be solid, is now revealed as vulnerable. The threads that compose it have been stretched to their limits by successive ecological, political, economic and social crises, appearing to be about to snap. We are approaching systemic breaking points as ecosystems collapse and livelihoods are threatened.

However, it is precisely in this thread – minimal unity, sensitive and open to transformation – that a regenerative power is inscribed. It is in this thread that possibilities for resistance, reparation, and reconfiguration of the future are intertwined.

This current edition of Contextile calls upon this ambivalence as a horizon: thread as a sign of urgency, but also as an instrument of invention, mediation, and proposal.

This is the thread that sews the Biennial in 2026, spanning artistic practices that problematize the devastating effects of the fashion industry, the accelerating consumption, and the extractive logic of textile production.

This reflection is not limited to merely denouncing: It acts as an affirmative gesture, proposing alternatives, designing possible trajectories, and summoning other materialities, whether they are ecological, sensitive or relational, repositioning the artistic creation at the centre of an ethic of care and sustainability.

Stop in and see my work up close and personal. It’s full of recycled textiles…my own personal passion is to reuse marketing items that get tossed after one use. I often embed bits of them in my colorful art, usually inspired by the sea.

20 artworks are selected each year by the Jurors from entries in our annual Westman Region Juried Art Show. This year's show was hosted in Killarney and the Travelling Gallery will be visiting 18 communities across the Westman Region over the ensuing year.

Judith is interested in the potential for interactions between Art and Science. She and partner Mike enthusiastically support the endeavors of the Perimeter Institute, Waterloo, Ontario. Eight of Judith's paintings have been accepted into the Perimeter Institute's art collection and installed in various venues within the Perimeter.

The World of Threads Festival is a leading international showcase of contemporary fibre and textile art. We are a not-for-profit initiative with charitable status run by a few dedicated volunteers. We believe that some of the most exciting and compelling artwork being made today is happening in the field of fibre arts.

Through our initiatives we have discovered some remarkable artists and brought them to the attention of Canadian and international audiences. The festival happens at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre in Oakville, Ontario, Canada and is organized and curated by Dawne Rudman and Gareth Bate.

Riverdale Art 2026, the 36th annual show and sale at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 361 Danforth Avenue, Toronto (at Chester subway station). Entry, which is free, is from Hampton Avenue, opposite the Second Cup. The show times are 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 27.

Create your own dragonfly scene using acrylics, masking fluid and glazing medium. We'll explore glazing techniques to achieve luminosity and play with iridescent paint for the wings. You'll take some new skills and a finished painting home.  Painters and non-painters  are welcome.  All materials provided.

Do not miss this wonderful opportunity - Anne is an artist in motion, pushing boundaries by infusing movement and energy into her paintings and working at a high level in pastel, oil, and multi-media.

This immersive two day workshop will focus on creating expressive pastel paintings through exploring techniques and artistic elements that bring paintings to life. Through a series of exercises, we will explore line, shape, pattern, light, value, color and surface to discover how to use these elements intentionally to capture both the energy of a subject and the viewer’s attention.

Creating expressive work is about more than observation; It’s about faults on the surface throughout the creative process. In this workshop, Anne will guide participants through her approach from start to finish to demonstrate how to build movement and vitality in their work.
