How to Segment Artwork Into Galleries

Segmenting your artwork in galleries can sometimes be a little tricky to navigate. Where should certain paintings go? What if they apply to more than one type?

You can include an image in more than one gallery (see above Video Tutorial on how to do so) which makes separating your works a little easier

Here are some ideas for segmenting your work:

1. Medium

Often we will see ArtSites artists segmenting their galleries into different types of medium ie. Watercolour, Pastels, Oil, etc. and that works perfectly for a client on the hunt for a specific medium.

2. Genre

There might be different painting styles you like to experiment with so why not segment some galleries into those styles? Ie. Abstract, Expressionist, Impressionist, etc.

3. Subject Matter

You can always separate your galleries based on subject matter, ie. Landscapes, Portraits, Seascapes, etc.

4. Colour

With the rise of social media, a lot of artists are working within a certain colour palette as a way to market their work so that the work appears cohesive on their social media feeds. This is also helpful for potential clients who may be looking for something within a certain colour palette. A good example of this can be seen on artist Dana Mooney's Instagram. Dana comes from an Interior Design background and she realized she could create works based on clients needs and popular Interior Design trends.

5. New Works

This is a popular gallery theme for a lot of our ArtSites artists and it's a really good idea to keep it updated as you create new works.
