Create Text that Links to Other Webpages, Websites, or Email Addresses

There are many times when you want to have some text link to another web page, either on your own website or on the Internet. Here are the instructions on how to create "linked" text that will take your visitors to a specific webpage when they click on some text.

Create Text that Links to Other Webpages, Websites, or Email Addresses

  1. Go to the page, gallery, or image where you want to insert your "linked" text.
(For galleries or images, you may need to click on the 'Edit' Edit (Pencil) icon icon: )
  2. You will see our standard 'Content' text editing box. Depending on where you are, it may be called 'XYZ Content' or 'Description' or 'Additional Text', if you are working with an image or gallery.
(Please note that 'Additional Text' may not be displayed in some layouts.)
  3. Click inside the 'Content' text editing box and put your mouse cursor where you want to insert your Text, i.e. the words you want to link.
  4. Type the words you would like to be "linkable".
(Please note that the words you type do NOT have to be the same as the webpage or website address. You can link whatever words you want.)
  5. Highlight the Text/Words you want to be linkable with your mouse (see grey highlighted text below)
    Link Icon and Highlighted Text
  6. Click on the 'Link" icon (see red square above)
  7. You will get the following pop-up box:
    Link Dialog Box
  8. In the URL field (red square box above), type in the full webpage or website address for the place you want your visitors to go to when they click those words.
  9. If you want to create an email link, i.e. when they click on the words, it sends an email:

    • Select "Other" in the "Protocol" drop down menu, and
    • In the URL field, type: mailto:Name@EmailAddress.com.
(Replace Name@EmailAddress.com with the email address you want to use.)

  10. Click 'OK'
  11. Be sure to scroll down and click 'Update' button to save your changes!
